The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms sponsored by Evolve Technologies would like Phantoms fans to join us in thanking and honouring Phantoms super fan Paul Young at tonight’s game against Streatham Redhawks.
Paul is a man known around the rink for his knowledge on Peterborough Hockey history, being the master in stats and pictures from the Pirates or Phantoms gone by. In October 1982, Paul attended his first game when Pirates thrashed Cambridge University 16-1. Now 1,039 home games later, Paul is still very much the heart of our Phantoms community.
Over the 37 years, Paul has made a significant impact on the Pirates and Phantoms organisations in an official and fan capacity, his accolades include;
- Created Peterborough Hockey’s first website “Twisted Sock” in 1998 and the discussion forum in 1999
- Appointed club photographer from 2005 to 2014
- Created and ran Phantoms Online from 2002 (Phantoms first Season) to 2009
- Ran Phantoms Official Website from 2009 – 2014
- Created the Phantoms Fan Group on Facebook and Twitter which is still used today
It’s not always been plain sailing with some turbulent times along the way and many feathers ruffled by the straight-talking Peterborough Hockey enthusiast, but Paul really has had some fantastic times over the years, which made it all worth while.
Please do join the Phantoms organisation in applauding Paul for all his work and dedication to our club and sport at tonight’s game, when we take on the Streatham Redhawks at 5.30PM.
Also, remember the Phantoms team and staff will be participating in their annual walk around the arena straight after the game, to acknowledge all fans with a high five. After the players will be hot-footing it up to the Ice Rink bar (Legends Bar) to do an entire team signing with both trophies present.
Large 18 x 12″ team pictures are available from HockeyDog for £5 each.
