The weekend is here and the Phantoms are back in action as they take on Telford at Planet Ice Peterborough on Saturday night, before visiting the Raiders on Sunday.

New signing Nathan Salem will go straight into the Phantoms lineup for the weekend’s games against Telford and Raiders. He was announced as returning to the club on Friday evening.

Corey McEwen could also return to the Phantoms roster after missing the last few games with a knock. Morgan Clarke-Pizzo is expected to be available after making a goal scoring return to the lineup on Wednesday night following an injury of his own.

Telford come to Planet Ice Peterborough in decent form, having defeated the Phantoms on their own ice on Wednesday night. They’ve now won their last two after two defeats in their first two games.

Scott McKenzie could add to the Tigers’ crop of experienced players on Saturday. He didn’t ice on Wednesday night but there is a chance he may return for Saturday’s game.

Brad Day got the start in goal against the Phantoms on Wednesday night, but they have Jordan Lawday waiting in the wings and he could play against the Phantoms on Saturday night.

Tom Watkins has been behind the bench for the Tigers for a number of years now and has been one of their keys to their successes in that time. Prior to coaching, he spent most of his career in Coventry and Telford and is a former Great Britain International.

Sunday night will see the Phantoms travel to Romford to take on the Raiders. Phantoms picked up a 4-2 win on their previous visit to the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre in September.

The Raiders will seemingly continue to be without Lukas Sladkovsky and Rio Grinnell-Parke for the weekend.

They’ve enlisted the help of a number of the Raiders’ second side, including defensemen Samuel Cooper and Daniel Fay, forward James Hounsome and former Phantoms man, Alan Lack.

Sean Easton’s coaching career began back in 2011/12 when he was the Assistant Coach of the Chelmsford Chieftains. Since then, he’s had a number of Head Coach roles in Chelmsford, before moving onto to take the helm at the Raiders in 2017. He’s also had experience with the Great Britain setup, having been the GB18’s Head Coach for a number of years, a role he continues into this season.

We’re looking forward to this weekend. No team wants to go 0-5 in their first five games but that’s the situation we’re in and now it’s up to us to put it right and start putting points on the board.

We’ve seen a couple of times this season that Telford are a good team with a lot of experience and their special teams are good, so we know we need to play to our maximum compete levels to give ourselves the best chance of getting the points on Saturday.

Raiders are always good in their own rink. We had a good win there in the Autumn Cup, but it wasn’t an easy game, and similar to Saturday’s game, we’ll need to compete for the full 60 minutes and execute our game plan effectively.

It’s brilliant to have Nathan Salem back with us. We never wanted him to leave when he originally moved to Sheffield but logistically it was a move that made sense for him at the time. We’ve not hidden from the fact we needed to add more quality to our team and we’re really pleased to be able to sign Nathan. It’s rare that one of the top Brits in this league become available mid-season and I’d like to say thanks to the other three owners for backing me with this move and their support in making it happen.

Saturday’s game against Telford faces off at 7:00pm and tickets are available HERE, or from the Planet Ice Box Office upon arrival at the rink! Doors will open at 6pm.

Face off against the Raiders on Sunday is scheduled for 5:15pm.
