The Peterborough Phantoms are thrilled to confirm the return of Czech forward, Petr Stepanek!
Petr has spent most of his career in his native Czech Republic with an impressive return of points throughout his days in his homeland.
He originally iced for the Phantoms in the 2016/17, scoring 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 53 games, before returning to HC Zdar nad Sazavou for the following year.
After a year away, the 6ft 5 forward returned to Planet Ice Peterborough and picked up where he left off, with 55 points in 38 games. The 2019/20 season was his best scoring season for the Phantoms, where he notched 27 goals and 43 assists for 70 points in 46 games.
He returned to Czech during the pandemic and has iced a number of games for his hometown team, but always intended on coming back to Peterborough once everything aligned and allowed him to do so.
Petr said: “I’m really happy to be back with the Peterborough Phantoms. I’ve missed playing in Peterborough in front of the fans in the last couple of years so it will be good to come back and see everyone again. I’m excited to get back in the locker room and see the guys again and I hope we can push to have a good season!”
Head Coach, Slava Koulikov, said the following on the return of Stepanek: “On behalf of the whole ownership group, I’m delighted to welcome Petr back for his fourth year as a Phantom. It’s been a long process with the visa application to bring him back, but we’re glad to have it all done now and over the line. Petr has been a big part of our team for the last few years and it’ll be brilliant to get him back in our lineup. We all know he brings size, intelligence on the puck and a good shot and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in a Phantoms jersey.”
