It’s another one game weekend for the Phantoms this week as the Raiders come to Peterborough for the final time in the regular season.

Gareth O’Flaherty could return to the Phantoms line up this weekend after missing a number of weeks with a concussion. This would give Slava Koulikov a full roster of players to choose from, as we enter the final stretch of the league season.

Koulikov has a choice to make between the pipes, with Ryan Bainborough and Jordan Marr both fit and raring to go, should they be called upon.

The Raiders were missing a number of players last week as they beat Basingstoke 6-4 on home ice. Dan Scott, Callum Wells, Greg Blais, Brad Windebank, Callum Burnett and Ross Connolly all missed the game and it is not yet known if any of them will return this weekend.

Jack Flynn was named on the team sheet but didn’t ice, but he is expected to return to the Raiders line up this weekend.

They also have stiff competition in goal. Ethan James has been the regular starter in recent weeks, but Michael Gray is waiting in the wings for his chance to impress.

I think we just need to keep the momentum going. We’re on a stretch of eight games and we’ve played different kinds of teams, so we just need to keep adjusting to each one we play. But we also just need to play the same way with the same desire that we’ll need to win

With it being another one game weekend, it’s about how the guys approach the game and manage it. There could be an argument that the other team could physically be more ready because they played 24 hours before but it’s about being ready and knowing that we play a team who are fighting for playoffs and a team who have caused us a lot of problems in the last three meetings against them. We need the same mentality to win the game because we don’t want to wait six or seven days before we can correct it.

You’re always planning ahead, it doesn’t matter if it’s a cup final, semi-final or a league game, you always look ahead at a stretch of games. But in terms of Sunday, it doesn’t affect us, we approach this weekend and next weekend as normal and then we can start to look at the cup final.

They’re (Raiders) capable of beating everyone and if you look at the last couple of weeks, they’ve only dropped games in the last couple of minutes in Basingstoke and Swindon and their results this season prove that anyone can beat anyone. So, it shows the importance of just worrying about us and our mentality and approach to make sure we get the result we want.
