Peterborough Phantoms 4-0 Milton Keynes Lightning
The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms eased to their first four-point weekend of the season with victory over the Milton Keynes Lighting.
The first period was dominated by the Phantoms who racked up 17 shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes. They failed to find the net, however, due to some solid goaltending from Brandon Stones.
It took the Phantoms 30 minutes to eventually put themselves ahead, when Petr Stepanek blasted home a slap shot from the blue line which left Stones with no chance.
Ales Padelek then added a goal worth watching over and over again. He took a pass from Scott Robson, gained the zone and fired a bullet of a shot right into the top corner.
Nathan Pollard tried to add to the score early in the third period when he went for the wraparound, but he became the latest Phantom to find MKL goalie, Stones, in good form.
Padelek netted his second with just under six minutes remaining to put the game out of sight, taking assists from Glenn Billing and James Ferrara to notch his second of the night.
Martins Susters completed the scoring under a minute later, tucking home a Stepanek assist.
The Phantoms controlled the closing moments of the game to ensure Jordan Marr claimed his shut out, and the bragging rights went to Phantoms with a comfortable win over their local rivals.
