PHANTOMS FIGHT BACK TO CLAIM A POINT IN TELFORD

Telford Tigers 3–2 Peterborough Phantoms (After penalty shots)

Tom Norton inspired the Peterborough DALROD Phantoms’ comeback on Sunday night, but the Phantoms ultimately fell to the Telford Tigers on penalty shots.

The Phantoms had to withhold some early pressure from the Tigers and got their rewards on 8:45 when Tom Norton scored his third goal of the weekend to put the Phantoms ahead. He took a pass from Padelek and fired past Brad Day at the back post.

As the first period reached its conclusion, Phantoms had to kill a 5 on 3 Tigers powerplay with James Ferrara and Corey McEwen both sitting hooking minors. The Phantoms got to the end of the period with the 1-0 lead intact.

Phantoms had 21 seconds of McEwen’s penalty to kill at the start of the second period, which they managed to do without any problems. Jordan Marr was called into action seconds later, though, making a great save to keep the Phantoms ahead.

But Nick Oliver levelled the scores with a blue line slap shot at 30:41.

Both sides had good chances to take the lead as the second period progressed, but both goalies stood tall to see the sides go into the second intermission tied at 1-1.

It didn’t take long for the first goal on the third period to come, when Andy McKinney scored a redirected effort just 1:06 into the final frame.

Tom Norton netted his second of the night in the final minute to send the game into overtime!

There were no goals in OT and the match was decided on penalty shots. Brandon Whistle was the only man to find the net on penalties, meaning Telford claimed the extra point.
