Basingstoke Bison 5-2 Peterborough Phantoms
The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms fell to their third consecutive away defeat with a loss to the Basingstoke Bison. Petr Stepanek and Nathan Pollard scored for the Phantoms, but it wasn’t enough as Ashley Tait’s side claimed the two points.
Stepanek gave the Phantoms the lead after 2:50, but the Bison hit back moments later through Richard Bordowski.
Tait doubled the lead in the first minute of the second period, before George Norcliffe extended the advantage to two goals.
Jarvis Hunt, Kieran Raynor and James Ferrara went close for the Phantoms, but they found Bison goalie Alex Mettam in good form.
Bison began to dominate the second period and could have been further ahead if it wasn’t for the heroics of Jordan Marr. The Phantoms goalie made a string of impressive stops to keep the scoreline down.
The Phantoms went in for the second intermission one goal behind after Pollard took a Stepanek assist to give the Phantoms hope of completing a turnaround.
But it wasn’t to be, as Norcliffe added his second of the night, tipping in Adam Jones’ shot on the powerplay, with 45:54 played in the game.
Alex Sampford completed the scoring for the Bison with just over 11 minutes to play.
