Milton Keynes Lightning 2–4 Peterborough Phantoms

The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms claimed victory in their first trip to Milton Keynes of the season.

The first period was an end to end affair, but the Phantoms comfortably outshot their opponents.

Nathan Pollard had the puck in the net in the first frame, but it was washed out by Adam Hands, owing to a high stick.

Petr Stepanek gave the Phantoms the lead in the opening minute of the second period – he collected the puck, swivelled and fired an unstoppable shot past Dean Skinns.

James Ferrara doubled the advantage moments later. He took a face off win from Ales Padelek and slapshotted the puck high over Skinns and into the back of the net.

Stepanek made it 3-0 with a powerplay marker with 46:52 on the clock.

Ari Närhi put the Lightning on the board with 53:37 on the clock. He went behind the net and wrapped his shot in from a tight angle.

Grant McPherson put the Lightning within one goal after collecting the puck in front of net and one timing it beyond Jordan Marr.

Martins Susters ensured there wasn’t a nervy end to proceedings, by taking a pass from McEwen and lifting the puck into the net from close range.
