PHANTOMS BATTLE TO A COMMANDING WIN OVER THE LEAGUE LEADERS

PHANTOMS BATTLE TO A COMMANDING WIN OVER THE LEAGUE LEADERS

Peterborough Phantoms 6-3 Swindon Wildcats

The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms put on what was arguably their best performance of the season so far to claim a victory over the league leading Swindon Wildcats.

Petr Stepanek opened the scoring with a trademark thunderbolt into the top corner, with 10:05 played in the first period.

Aaron Nell levelled the scores after dancing his way around Jordan Marr and lifting the puck into the net on the backhand.

And the Cats took the lead in the opening two minutes of the second period, through Toms Rutkis, who had a simple tap in after good work from Chris Jones.

Ales Padelek drew the Phantoms level with an unstoppable strike. James Ferrara won the face off and Padelek hit a one-time slap shot into the back of the net.

Conor Pollard put the Phantoms 3-2 ahead just over a minute later, after capitalising on Renny Marr’s save from Gareth O’Flaherty’s effort.

Phantoms went two goals ahead with their third goal in as many minutes, Martins Susters this time finding the back of the Swindon net with 28:26 played in the game.

But Swindon got a goal back early in the third through Tomasz Malasinski, who took a pass from Nell and beat J.Marr on the breakaway.

R.Marr then gifted the Phantoms their fifth goal. The Cats goalie went behind his net to play the puck, but played it off his own goalpost, and Padelek had a simple tap in to the open goal.

Nathan Pollard scored his second in as many games with a fine strike into the top corner. He took a pass from Stepanek and unleashed a wrist shot which left R.Marr with no chance.
