The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms are delighted to announce the signing of 29-year-old Centreman Gareth O’Flaherty on a Short-Term Contract.
The 29-year-old British Centreman will be joining the Phantoms on Short Term injury cover for the next few weeks to add depth in the central positions as we lose Jarvis Hunt due to injury and Will Weldon becomes unavailable for the next few games. O’Flaherty said, “I’m excited to be joining the Phantoms, they’re a well-drilled team with a great work ethic and I’m looking forward to helping them out as much as I can over the next few weeks.”
O’Flaherty grew up playing in the Guilford Junior system before joining the Nottingham Lions in 2009. Gareth has had spells in the EIHL with Coventry Blaze from 2014/15 – 2017/18 before signing at MK Thunder last season and Bracknell Bees earlier this season.
Head Coach Slava Koulikov commented on the short-term signing by saying “I am pleased to welcome Gareth to the Phantoms on a short-term contract for the next few weeks, he will add depth to the centre which we will need in the upcoming weeks. He is a solid defensive centreman who has become available at a crucial point in the season for the team and I’m looking forward to seeing him on Wednesday.”
Owners Dave and Jo Lane commented on the signing of O’Flaherty by saying “We are pleased that Gareth could step in and help us for the next few weeks on a short-term contract. We have seen him play in both this league and the EPL for many seasons now, he is a solid player with a lot of experience and we can’t wait to welcome him to Planet Ice Peterborough on Sunday.”
Gareth O’Flaherty will be making his home debut on Sunday 10th November against Raiders wearing the number 36 jersey. Please join us in welcoming Gareth to the Phantoms!
