The WALDECK Peterborough Phantoms suffered defeat on Sunday night, as Swindon returned to Wiltshire with both points.
After a strong showing in victory over the Sheffield Steeldogs, the WALDECK Peterborough Phantoms were looking to make it a four point weekend as the Swindon Wildcats visited Planet Ice Peterborough.
Still without Brad Bowering due to injury, Phantoms started the game well and took the lead on the powerplay, when Luke Ferrara’s shot cannoned off the post and fell kindly for Cam Hough to tap into the empty net on the rebound.
But Swindon levelled the scores on 14:05 when former Poland International, Tomasz Malasinski, rifled a blue line effort through traffic and into the top corner.
Phantoms continued to push for their second and went close through Louie Kynaston and Janne Laakkonen, but the former’s effort went wide and the latter’s was well saved.
The Wildcats took the lead with 16:46 played when Jake Bricknell skated into the zone and ripped his effort into the bottom corner.
And they took a two goal lead into the first intermission when Glenn Billing’s effort was parried straight into the path of Reed Sayers, who netted Swindon’s third goal of the evening.
Swindon picked up where they left off to find their fourth goal early in the second period, when former Phantom Eddie Bebris popped up on the back door to convert from close range.
They notched their fifth with just over half the game played as Bricknell picked up his second of the game when he rifled an effort into the back of the net from the centre of the Cats’ offensive zone.
A disappointing second period for the Phantoms was capped off when Aaron Nell found time and space in close to lift an effort into the top corner for a shorthanded goal for the visitors.
Phantoms grabbed a goal back with 11:42 to play when Jarvis Hunt ripped home at the second attempt after seeing his initial effort well saved by Renny Marr.
