Last week the English Ice Hockey Association announced some NIHL2 teams will be returning to play in the South Cup.
The Haringey Huskies are one of those team to announce they will be joining the NIHL2 streaming series and the Phantoms are delighted that Nathan Pollard and Nathan Long will be helping the Huskies throughout the campaign which will be played behind closed doors.
Polly explained why getting back on the ice was important to him, commenting “ The opportunity came about after speaking to James Pentecost who used to play with the Huskies. The chance to get back on the ice and play was a chance too good to refuse, it’s been almost a year since we last played and I’ve missed it tremendously!
Nathan Long also commented saying “I was contacted by Haringey Huskies to play for them in their cup series. I thought it was a great opportunity to get back on the ice and dust off the cobwebs after a long year out in preparation for the season hopefully returning later this year.”
The NIHL2 South Cup campaign commenced last Saturday when Slough took on Solent. Haringey’s first game is this coming Saturday 13th March against Slough.
The games will be streamed, more details will be released by the Huskies in due course.
Everyone at the Phantoms wishes Polly and Longer, and the rest of the team the best of luck for the coming series.
