MATCH REPORT | PHANTOMS CLAIM SATURDAY NIGHT WIN OVER LEEDS

Leeds Chiefs 3-6 Peterborough Phantoms

The Peterborough DALROD Phantoms claimed both points over the Leeds Chiefs on Saturday night.

Tom Norton opened the scoring with a trademark slapshot from the blue line, with just 3:21 on the clock.

Martins Susters doubled the advantage, capitalising on a rebound after Petr Stepanek’s initial shot was saved by Sam Gospel.

Lewis Houston got the Chiefs on the board to reduce the deficit back down to one.

And Richard Bentham levelled the scores with 7:36 played in the second period. The former Phantoms man unleashed a powerful slapshot from the blue line which proved too hot to handle for Ryan Bainborough.

Susters put the Phantoms back in front moments later with another good finish.

Conor Pollard reinstated the two goal cushion for the Phantoms, taking a centring pass from Corey McEwen to score a well worked powerplay goal.

Will Weldon scored the fifth for the Phantoms with 49:18 played, after good work by Nathan Pollard and Stepanek.

Bentham struck again in the closing moments after being found with time and space in the middle of the zone. The finish, though, was a smart one.

But there was still time for Phantoms to go tic-tac-toe for their sixth of the night. Ales Padelek laid of James Ferrara, who found Glenn Billing on the back door. Billing found the net with ease.
