MATCH REPORT | PHANTOMS BEAT WILDCATS COURTESY OF A MASTERCLASS FROM THE POLLARD BROTHERS

Peterborough Phantoms 7-6 Swindon Wildcats

A masterclass from Nathan and Conor Pollard sealed victory over the Swindon Wildcats.

Phantoms got off to the best possible start after Ales Padelek opened the scoring after just 13 seconds.

And the lead was doubled with 5:11 played after Callum Buglass found the back of the net at the back post.

Floyd Taylor answered back immediately with a cool finish from the centre of the zone.

Nathan Pollard scored his first of the night with a breakaway goal that left Tyler Perre with no chance.

But the Cats hit straight back again with Tyler Plews finding the back of Ryan Bainborough’s net.

Chris Jones levelled the scores after a mix up at the back allowed the Cats’ #11 to tap in from close range.

And the Cats took the lead through Plews moments later, who fired home through traffic, from the blue line.

Conor Pollard drew the Phantoms level with a clever finish at the near post, before Glenn Billing put the Phantoms back in front, taking a James Ferrara pass before sweeping the puck into the bottom corner.

Ben Nethersell made it 5-5, but C. Pollard put the Phantoms ahead again, taking a pass from Martins Susters and finishing with confidence past Perre.

Lost count? Well, the second period finished 6-5.

Man of the match, N. Pollard, made it 7-5 early in the third period, with a big slap shot from the left wing.

Aaron Nell reduced the Phantoms’ lead back to one with a breakaway goal; a goal which proved to be the final one of the game, as the Phantoms held on to claim both points.
