MATCH PREVIEWS | MILTON KEYNES LIGHTNING

The Peterborough Phantoms kick off their post-Christmas fixtures with a double header against the Milton Keynes Lightning.

PHANTOMS TEAM NEWS

Your Peterborough Phantoms will once again be short benched for their trip to Milton Keynes. Will Weldon, Corey McEwen, Nathan Salem, Luc Johnson, Morgan Clarke-Pizzo and Nathan Long are all out.

Taylor Romeo also isn’t available, whilst a couple of other Phantoms face a race against time to be ready for the game.

Conor Pollard will ice for the Phantoms, stepping back up from Phantoms NIHL 2 to bolster Slava Koulikov’s forward options.

MILTON KEYNES LIGHTNING

MKL come into the double header in good form, having only dropped points in a couple of their last stretch of games. They sit 4th in the table, 6 points off top spot.

TEAM NEWS

MKL are expected to include most of their regular fixtures in their roster for the games against the Phantoms.

But James Griffin, Ben Russell and Sam Russell have missed games through injury of late, and it isn’t yet known if any of them will return to play against the Phantoms.

Zaine McKenzie is likely to return to the roster after returning from GB U20 duties, but Mikey Power didn’t play last Sunday.

SLAVA SAYS

It was really nice to get a win in our last home game before Christmas to send the fans home happy and also to put an end to a poor run of games for us. The guys had to dig deep on Sunday with many guys playing higher roles than they’re used to, but everyone performed well and we can be pleased with most of what we did.

MKL are another good team, but there aren’t any bad ones in the league anymore. They’ve got lots of firepower and we have to be ready for another tough game. We’ve said all along that no games are easy in this league and that’s definitely the case.

We’ll go to MK with a depleted team, but also with a plan, and we’ll do what we can to get something out of the game on Monday, before our home game on Tuesday.
