MATCH PREVIEW | TELFORD TIGERS

MATCH PREVIEW | TELFORD TIGERS

The Peterborough Phantoms are back in action on Wednesday night as Slava Koulikov’s side go in search of their first win of the league season against Telford.

PHANTOMS TEAM NEWS

Nathan Long and Ross Clarke returned to the Phantoms line up for last weekend’s games against the Milton Keynes Lightning and the Raiders. Both are expected to be available for the trip to Shropshire on Wednesday night.

And the Phantoms have been assessing the fitness of Corey McEwen and Morgan Clarke-Pizzo in the hope that they will be ready to return to the line up for the fixture. A late decision will be made on the pair, who have both missed recent games through injury.

TELFORD TIGERS

The Tigers have kicked off their campaign with one win, one loss and one overtime loss. Their last fixture saw them register their first win of the league season, a 3-0 win over the Basingstoke Bison.

TEAM NEWS

The Tigers have a blend of youth and experience throughout their roster, with elder statesmen such as Jason Silverthorn and Rick Plant likely to line up against the Phantoms.

However, Jonathan Weaver has missed the last few games and it isn’t known if he will return to face the Phantoms on Wednesday night.

In goal, they have a choice between Bradley Day and Jordan Lawday. Day was a regular fixture in net for the Tigers last season, but they have recruited Lawday to allow them to split the ice time to keep both of their goaltenders fresh.

OPPOSITION BENCH

Tom Watkins has been behind the bench for the Tigers for a number of years now and has been one of their keys to their successes in that time. Prior to coaching, he spent most of his career in Coventry and Telford and is a former Great Britain International.

SLAVA SAYS

It’ll be a tough game in Telford, they’re a good team with a good coach and they’ve made their rink a really difficult place to go and play. But we’ll go there with a game plan and look to get both points from the game, we’ve not had the start we wanted but every game that comes up is our chance to get points on the board and that’s what we’ll look to do on Wednesday night.

We’ve been short staffed for every game we’ve played so far this season and it is likely that we won’t have our full roster available for the game on Wednesday night. But having experienced this in every game so far, we’ll pick our line combinations with what we have based on what we think would be the best way of giving our team a chance to win the game.
