The Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the signing of young British forward, Luc Johnson, from the Swindon Wildcats!

Johnson began his hockey career in Milton Keynes before joining up with the Okanagan Academy for the 2012/13 season. From there, he played the rest of his junior hockey with Okanagan and Swindon, before making his senior debut with the Wildcats in 2013/14.

The former Great Britain U18 and U20 captain then moved back to Milton Keynes, where he iced for the Lightning for two seasons.

When the Lightning moved up to the Elite League, Johnson went back to Swindon and has remained there ever since. He’s gone on to play over 100 times for Aaron Nell’s Wildcats’ side.

He was initially due to join the Phantoms for the 2020/21 season, but after the season was lost due to the pandemic, Luc signed up for the up and coming 21/22 season!

Slava Koulikov has been a long-term admirer of Johnson and is delighted to have finally sealed the signing of the highly rated Brit: “I’m really happy to have Luc joining our organisation! I got to know Luc as a player and as a person when we worked together at GB U20. Luc was a real leader in that team and showed a lot of good qualities on and off the ice. His team first attitude, great game awareness and skillset remind me of Glenny when he first joined us. I believe Luc is the right fit for our team and I am looking forward to working with him this season!”

And Luc was equally pleased to sign on the dotted line in Peterborough: “I am very excited to be a part of the Phantoms organisation. I would like to thank Slava for giving me the opportunity to join such a good group. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the organisation from top to bottom! I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season and challenging for some silverware! Stay safe and I’ll see you all soon.”
