JOHNSON HALL OF FAME INDUCTION TAKING PLACE THIS SUNDAY!

JOHNSON HALL OF FAME INDUCTION TAKING PLACE THIS SUNDAY!

We will be inducting Stevie into the Hall of Honour on Sunday 19th January at our home game against the Sheffield Steeldogs. So, make sure you come along to the game to congratulate Stevie and celebrate his induction into the Hall of Honour.

A legend of hockey in Peterborough with 331 Peterborough Pirates appearances, 111 goals, 130 assists and 276 penalty minutes. 30 years of commitment to playing and coaching hockey in the city, and now our latest inductee into the Peterborough Hockey Hall of Honour.

In 1997, Stevie stopped playing, but laced his skates back up to play in the Islanders first ever season. He saw it as a chance to help some of the younger players progress and help give them the best chance to play senior hockey.

Alongside his time playing for the Islanders, he coached the Pirates u10’s team with Carl Stripling. He eventually decided it was time to stop playing and to try and get the next generation of youngsters to have the same experiences he had. He coached James Ferrara, Robbie Ferrara, Luke Ferrara and Craig Peacock to name just a few, who went on to ice in the Elite League. He took that team to the National Finals.

In 2007/08, Stevie assisted Phil David at the Phantoms. That season, the Phantoms won the Knockout Cup. Stevie encouraged David not to pull the goalie during the first leg, whilst the Phantoms were one goal down, and they went on to turn over the score and win the Phantoms’ first trophy since 2004. He assisted a number of coaches after David’s departure, including Slava Koulikov for a short time.

Dave and Jo Lane asked Stevie to help the islanders get players ready for Phantoms 1. Stevie says it was a hard task, but after three years of a four-year plan, they won the treble. Following on from the treble winning season, nine of his Islanders players were called up to the Phantoms.

Stevie is still the Head Coach of the Phantoms 2 team today and continues to be heavily involved in Peterborough Hockey. We look forward to inducting Stevie into the Hall of Honour on Sunday (19th Jan) at our home game against the Sheffield Steeldogs.

We are also looking forward to welcoming Paddock Developments as our match night sponsors for this fixture!

Congratulations to Stevie Johnson for being inducted into the Peterborough Hockey Hall of Honour, from everyone at the Peterborough DALROD Phantoms!
