It’s with deep sadness to inform you all of long-standing fan and supporter, Audrey Wells passing just before Christmas, after a long battle with her health.
At the wishes of Audrey’s family, we did not announce the loss of Audrey at the time. But the family has asked if we can now share the funeral details with all that knew this incredible lady.
Audrey and her husband Ray, have been long-serving fans since the ’80s as well as previously being a part of the board and even backroom staff. Unfortunately, Ray had to stop attending games due to ill health, but Audrey continued to attend the games through thick and thin.
Not only did Audrey care for Ray 24/7, but Audrey also played an essential part in fundraising for the club every week through her raffle table, as well as always going home with bags full of repairs to the team’s kit.
Over the last few years, Audrey saw her own health start to deteriorate but always tried to attend as many games as she could. When times were too hard, Audrey wouldn’t let that stop her from seeing her beloved team, and she and Ray would be watching the live stream.
The Peterborough Phantoms have lost an incredible lady, who always had the club in her heart. Everyone at the Phantoms will never forget Audrey and send our deepest sympathy to Ray and the family.
Audrey’s funeral takes place on Tuesday 12th January 2021 at 1.30 PM. Due to current COVID restrictions, Fenland Chapel in March are providing live streaming and watch again service.
