It is with regret that the Peterborough DALROD Phantoms must today confirm that Jo and Dave Lane will be stepping down as owners of the Club.

Jo and Dave took over the reins as owners of the Club back in 2014/15, when the club was far from its current state in terms of infrastructure and stature, but today sees the Phantoms run with full time back-room staff and has evolved into a 24/7 operation with significant corporate partners, a prominent and recognisable brand and a strong reputation as one of Peterborough’s most successful professional sports teams.

Throughout Jo and Dave’s time as owners, the Phantoms have competed in numerous cup finals, including the treble winning season of 2018/19. The Lanes assisted with the assembly of a consistently strong roster, alongside one of the best coaches in British Ice Hockey, Slava Koulikov.

Jo and Dave’s Phantoms journey began when they sponsored the Phantoms Juniors, when their son Dan and daughter Kim, both represented the Club’s youth ranks. Since then, they have become the team’s main sponsor and transitioned into the owners of the club, investing both time and significant resources to bring the club to arguably its most stable and successful position.

Having built the Club to its now highly regarded reputation around the National League and in senior British Hockey, Jo and Dave also took on the Peterborough Islanders, who later became Phantoms 2. This led to more joy and success for the Phantoms organisation, with Phantoms 2 also appearing in cup finals and winning trophies under the stewardship of Stevie Johnson. Phantoms 2 also have a league, cup and playoff winning treble under their belt since Dave and Jo took the reins, as the NIHL2 side increased its commitment to bringing through young, local players, with a view to them later linking up with the main Phantoms team.

They achieved all of this whilst working tirelessly to continue to grow their own business, DALROD, which has been going from strength to strength in recent years.

Jo and Dave have now decided that having brought the club to such a position, it feels like the right time to divert their time and focus to their own business interests within DALROD. The last year has seen significant growth in the DALROD business and with that, it draws more time and attention from Jo and Dave. With further growth plans on the horizon, it is right that DALROD now demands their primary focus.

As a result, Jo and Dave will be stepping away from direct ownership of the Peterborough Phantoms over the course of the spring. In recognition of their efforts and significant impacts, the Club will be retaining Jo and Dave the position of Honorary Chairpersons of the Club. They will also continue their invaluable sponsorship of the Club through DALROD.

The Club would like to extend its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Lane family for all of their drive, passion, commitment and leadership over the last seven years. Both Jo and Dave deserve enormous credit for the development and positive impact they have had on our club. Our eternal thanks go to Jo and Dave for all of this.

Dave & Jo, commented: “The Phantoms have been a massive part of our lives over the past decade and also that of both of our children, Dan & Kim. It has been a rollercoaster of both fun and excitement and our success would not have been possible but for our coaches, backroom staff, our players, volunteers, and most of all, our loyal fans. Thank you to everyone. We have laid some strong foundations for ice hockey in Peterborough and are extremely excited to watch the club go even further over the next decade!”

The club will shortly be announcing new ownership and some exciting future plans, to hopefully maintain and build upon the solid foundations created by the Lane family.

Thank you, Jo and Dave, and we look forward to seeing you both at the rink in the not too distant future!
