Phantoms defenceman, Callum Buglass, is still loving life in Phantoms colours as the team enter the business end of his second season with the club.

Last weekend saw the Phantoms defeat the Bracknell Bees, 5-4, with a dramatic last-minute Corey McEwen goal. Buglass thinks the team made it hard for themselves, but the result is the most important thing at this stage of the season.

“Bracknell are always a tough team to play, I do think at times we made it hard for ourselves, but we found a way to win which was huge. If you put things in perspective, they then beat Swindon the next day, so our result showed how hard we had to work.” Said the Welshman.

The win against Bracknell extended the Phantoms’ winning run to eight consecutive games. Whilst the winning run is good for the Phantoms, Buglass is wary that it will fuel the opposition further as they seek to be the team to end the run.

“Eight in a row is a great achievement in such a competitive league like this, but the longer it goes on the more of a target we become, teams always want to be ‘that team’ that break a streak but confidence is flowing in the room and everything seems to be clicking nicely now we’re back to full strength after early season injuries.” Buglass said.

The National Cup final is just around the corner and Buglass admits it is hard not to think about the game, given its magnitude. But he is keen to continue the ‘one game at a time’ mantra adopted by the Phantoms squad, as focuses turn to Sunday’s match against the Raiders. (Details regarding the cup final will be announced in due course)

“I’m not going to lie, during the week it is hard not to think about the cup final, but as soon as it’s game day on the weekend those thoughts leave your mind and your focused on the game ahead of you.” Callum said.

The Raiders return to Planet Ice Peterborough on Sunday for the Phantoms’ only game of the weekend. It is the Phantoms’ penultimate regular season clash against the Raiders, with one more trip to Romford in the offing in March.

“I think everyone knows now that the Raiders are a good team, they have a lot of energy and always bring a physical style of play. We just have to stay confident and play a solid 60-minute game to hopefully get the two points.” Buglass said.

And the Welshman is still loving life as a Peterborough Phantom: “Yeah I’m still loving it here! It’s such a good locker room to be involved in and when you hit the ice you have full trust in everyone giving their all.”
