BRACKNELL BEES – MATCH PREVIEW

BRACKNELL BEES – MATCH PREVIEW

It’s a one game weekend for the Peterborough DALROD Phantoms this week, as the Bracknell Bees visit Planet Ice Peterborough for the latest instalment of NIHL National action.

TEAM NEWS

Phantoms

Jarvis Hunt and Gareth O’Flaherty both skated on Wednesday night, but Hunt is more likely to return to the Phantoms line up this weekend. Both will be a late decision after training on Friday night.

Joe Gretton and Ross Clarke will ice for Phantoms 2 this week, as Stevie Johnson’s team travel to Bracknell to take on the Hornets.

Jordan Marr will start between the pipes for the Phantoms. Ryan Bainborough has had a good amount of ice time in recent weeks and Slava Koulikov plans to use both of his goalies on a rotation for the rest of the season.

A couple of players missed training on Wednesday with knocks, but Koulikov is hopeful that he will have an almost full-strength squad of players to choose from.

Bees

The Bees have been running a short bench for the last couple of weeks, with a number of players missing out through injury and suspension. Josh Ealey-Newman returned to their line-up last Sunday, though, after his suspension and is likely to feature against the Phantoms.

Joe Baird has missed the last eight games for the Bees, and it is not yet known whether he’ll return to the line-up this week.

Starting goaltender, Adam Goss, has also been struggling with a knock in recent weeks. He’s back in the Bees squad, but Danny Milton has started between the pipes in the last five games. Goss’ last appearance was in the Bees’ 8-2 loss to the Basingstoke Bison.

SLAVA SAYS

I’m expecting Bracknell to come in with the same mindset Swindon had last week, because they need to win and every point counts at this stage of the season. We have to be ready, think about us and it’s only one game at the weekend so we want to win that and then move onto the next week.

We need to focus on our game, have the right mindset and play the kind of hockey we have in the last two games and if we do that, we’ll have a good chance.

We always evaluate everything after every game. We did say this year that Ryan (Bainborough) will play more. Obviously, Ryan got injured in his second game and that set him back 6 weeks and then in the last few weeks he’s played four and a half games and he’s caught up with match fitness. It’s about having the right rotations; Euan and I will come up with a plan about the next few weeks, but this is time for Marr to start and we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.
