Phantoms youngsters, Brad Bowering and Jarvis Hunt, have been called up to the GB U18 team for next year’s U18 World Championships.

GB will play against Estonia, Korea, Lithuania, Romania and Serbia in the Division II Group 18 in Tallinn next year. The tournament will run between 22nd-28th March 2020.

Defenceman Bowering represented GB18’s last year in the World Junior Championships, scoring once and assisting a further three goals in five games. He also won the top player award for GB18’s at that tournament.

Jarvis Hunt represented England in the 2014/15 season whilst he was a junior, and also played for GB U16’s in 2017/18. Next March will be his first involvement with the GB18’s set up and is a reward for the progress he has made in the past year and a half with the Phantoms senior side.

Phantoms Head Coach, Slava Koulikov, said: “I am really pleased for two of our players to be named in U18 GB Team! One of main goals at Phantoms is to make sure we develop home grown talent and give local kids a chance to shine on the big stage. Both Brad and Jarvis have developed their games this season and I believe they will be playing big part in the upcoming World Championships!”

Phantoms General Manager, Jon Kynaston, said: “It is our goal to promote home grown players into our first team. Doing this gives us hungry players, and players who carry that passion for our club and the logo on the front of the shirt. Equally, because financially it helps us in a competitive way to develop talent from within and avoid the potential cost of attracting players from other areas and the price tag that comes with that. We have worked hard with players like Brad and Jarvis, and many others, to develop a skill level to give them a foundation to mature into capable hockey players. We have some exciting players coming through in years to come, too. The work is continuous and the pathways in place now are as solid as we have ever seen them in Peterborough, our development of junior players is excellent, as a smaller club we continue to punch above our weight when it comes to bringing the top end junior players into the senior game.”

Congratulations to Jarvis and Brad for being called up to the squad and good luck for next year’s tournament!
